About Munn Park Historic District
The Munn Park Historic District is downtown Lakeland's original heart, named for city founder Abraham Munn and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997. Its centerpiece, Munn Park, was laid out in 1884 as the town square of Munn's first subdivision, and the surrounding blocks hold the area's largest concentration of early commercial architecture. Today the district buzzes with antique shops, cafes, the weekend Downtown Saturday Market, and First Friday events featuring pop-up booths and food trucks.
