Effective April 21, 2026
Stay in Lakeland (“Stay in Lakeland,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) operates stayinlakeland.com (the “Site”), a vacation-rental directory and guest concierge service for Lakeland, Florida. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Site you agree to the practices described below.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Information you give us directly. When you contact us, request a consultation, submit a listing inquiry, subscribe to our newsletter, or message us through forms on the Site, we collect your name, email address, phone number, property details, and any content you include in your message.
- Property owner account information. If you register as a property owner or partner, we collect business name, mailing address, property addresses, payout information as needed for concierge billing, and the contact details of individuals authorized to manage the account.
- Usage and device data. We automatically collect basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, referring URL, and timestamps. We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns.
- Cookies and similar technologies. We use first-party cookies to keep you signed in to owner accounts, remember preferences, and measure Site performance. You can disable cookies in your browser, though some features may not work without them.
We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
2. How We Use Information
- To respond to inquiries, connect guests with property owners, and deliver the services you request.
- To operate owner accounts, process concierge and marketing fees, and communicate about listings you control.
- To send newsletters, travel guides, and Lakeland recommendations when you subscribe (you can unsubscribe at any time).
- To improve the Site, debug issues, and understand which content and neighborhoods travelers find useful.
- To prevent fraud, enforce our Terms of Service, and comply with legal obligations.
3. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in these situations:
- With property owners. If you submit a booking, inquiry, or guest-services request tied to a specific property, we share relevant contact and trip details with that owner so they can respond.
- With service providers. We use vetted vendors for hosting, email delivery, analytics, payment processing, and error monitoring. These vendors process data only to provide services to us and are contractually required to protect it.
- For legal reasons. We may disclose information to comply with applicable law, a court order, or a lawful government request, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Stay in Lakeland, our users, or others.
- In a business transition. If Stay in Lakeland is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction under confidentiality protections.
4. Third-Party Platforms
Stay in Lakeland is an independent directory and marketing service. We are not affiliated with Airbnb, VRBO, Booking .com, or other booking platforms. When you click through to those platforms, their privacy policies govern the data they collect. We do not receive booking payments or payout information from those platforms unless an owner explicitly shares it with us to deliver concierge services.
5. Your Rights and Choices
- You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link at the bottom of every message.
- You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you.
- California, Colorado, Virginia, Connecticut, and other state residents may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws. We honor verified requests regardless of residency.
- You can disable cookies, opt out of analytics, or use browser-level “Do Not Track” signals; we honor Global Privacy Control signals where technically feasible.
To exercise any right, email privacy@stayinlakeland.com. We will respond within 30 days.
6. Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as needed to provide the services, resolve disputes, and meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations. Inquiry messages are kept for up to 24 months. Owner account records are kept while the account is active and for up to 7 years after closure for tax and audit purposes. You can request earlier deletion at any time.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information — including TLS encryption in transit, hashed credentials, scoped access controls, and vetted infrastructure providers. No system is perfectly secure; if we become aware of a breach affecting your information, we will notify you and the appropriate authorities as required by law.
