In the heart of downtown Lakeland, walkable from downtown-area rentals.
About Lake Morton
Lake Morton has sat in the heart of downtown Lakeland since 1927 and is the spiritual center of the city's swan tradition. After Lakeland's swans died out by the mid-1950s, a local couple wrote to Queen Elizabeth II, who gifted the city a pair of royal swans in 1957; today roughly 80 swans, along with ducks and other waterfowl, grace the lake. A flat sidewalk loop circles the water, lined with historic homes and dotted with benches, making it a favorite for morning walks, photos, and feeding the birds. Staying in a Lakeland vacation rental near downtown puts this beloved swan-filled lake within an easy stroll.
